Process and henna care guide

  • Our henna cones are made with all natural henna powder, essential oils (tea tree oil,Clove oil and Niaouli oil), lemon juice and sugar. It rejuvenates the skin and brightens up your spirit.
  • After applying the henna, it dries and begins to crack in 15-20 mins.(At this stage it would NOT have stained the skin)
  • Once you get your henna done, wait patiently to dry and keep it on for maximum amount of time. Longer you keep it on, darker the color would be. Generally we would recommend keeping it on for minimum of 2 to 3 hours without washing the area with running water.
  • Scrap / peel the dry henna. When first removed, the henna design is pale to dark orange in color and gradually darkens through oxidation, over the course of 24 to 72 hours. You will see the final color only after 48 hours.
  • The final color is reddish brown and can last anywhere from 5 to 10 days, it also depends on where it was applied on the body (thicker skin stains darker and stays longer than thin skin)
  • Applying natural oils, such as olive, sesame seed, or coconut, will also help extend the lifetime of the henna.
  • Apply Vaseline on henna design area before taking a bath or before going for swimming. Water, soap, shampoo and chlorine can fade henna quickly.

Interesting facts

  • Henna takes the best on the palms of the hands and the soles of the feet. Thinner skin like your back or upper arm are more difficult to stain and may require more than one application.
  • Some skin types and placements need an extra application of henna to get really good color (especially if your body temperature tends to be lower or it's winter time).
  • If you remove your henna paste and immediately wash dishes, your stain will not oxidize properly and you will get a substantially lighter stain. Use gloves when cleaning, especially the first day of your henna stain.
  • When you are warm, your skin cells expand because they are trying to release heat. When you are cold, they contract because they are trying to hold in heat. This means when you are warm there is more surface area to stain and more room for the dye in the henna molecules to penetrate the skin cells.
